Lessons from the Golf Course: Discipline, Focus, and the Art of Performance
Golf was never meant to teach me anything about performance. At first, it was simply a way to slow down. A walk across wide green space, the sound of a clean strike, the quiet challenge of sending a small white ball toward a distant target.

My Top 25 NES Games
The Nintendo Entertainment System, or the Famicom in Japan, is the earliest console I have any direct experience of. We didn’t have a NES in our house when we were kids. I was a bit sniffy of it actually, viewing it as old-fashioned and before my time (I was born in 1984, between the Japanese and Western releases of the system). It was years later that I started to appreciate earlier games and hardware. I played the NES round friends’ houses and, eventually, well into adulthood, someone decided to get rid of theirs and now we had our own Family Computer.

My 400th Story: Celebrating 10 Years of the NES Classic
Greetings, Vocal readers and subscribers! I've reached yet another milestone: 400 stories on Vocal. I'm aiming to reach the 500 stories mark by the end of this year. Is it doable? There's only one way to find out. To celebrate this milestone, I'll be talking about a game console that will turn 10 later on this year, except it's a miniature version of an old game system that everyone wanted to get their hands on. I'm talking about the release of the NES Classic. I'll be sharing the good and the bad of the game console.

Nintendo’s First Direct of 2026 Is Taking Shape
Nintendo has officially confirmed that the first Nintendo Direct of 2026 will be a Partner Showcase, and honestly, that alone already tells us a lot. Partner Showcases usually exist to clear the runway—letting third-party announcements breathe before Nintendo drops the real bomb: a full, general Nintendo Direct.
