Villainess Review: Aubrey Hoffman (9-1-1: Nashville)
A mistake in a 911 call ends up exposing a truly insane villainess in this episode from the show's freshman season

I absolutely, positively love 9-1-1: Nashville!
I loved it from the moment I saw the first promo for this months ago. The hockey fan in me can't help bu love that Nashville is the setting; yes, the original show is in an NHL city as well, but Nashville is a Central Division city. I love the cast immensely; still hard to believe that Chris O'Donnell's first appearance as Robin in Batman Forever was over 30 years ago. Of course, Jessica Capshaw, LeAnn Rimes, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, oh yeah, a hat trick of awesome actresses.
But yeah, I truly love this show so much, and while both shows are entering a weeks long hiatus, at least this new addition to the franchise gave us one hell of a deliciously wicked villainess! So let's get to it!
In the episode, "Love to Death," Cammie Raleigh receives a 911 call from Brian Williams, and it's about his ex-wife, Vera Hoffman. Brian had heard screaming from Vera, and made the call to Cammie hoping she'd help. Jalen Fox arrives at the address, but there's one problem: it's the wrong one. Jalen and company head to the right address, and they find Vera covered in blood, having been stabbed violently. She barely uttered a syllable ("Brr... Brr...") before she succumbed to her injuries.
A funeral gathering for Vera took place, and Cammie and Blythe's arrival sees them witness Brian being ejected by Vera's sister, Aubrey Hoffman, who introduced herself to the pair. She mourned Vera and actually snapped a bit in response to Cammie mentioning the error regarding the address. Aubrey repeated her earlier sentiment that Brian killed Vera, voicing her dismay over Brian being cleared, and we later see Olivia Williams (Brian and Vera's daughter) saying that Brian changed after the divorce, adding that Brian was still in love with Vera and was upset when she started dating.
Already my spidey sense is tingling big time, but not at the believed direction. Cammie, determined to solve this thing, looks into the 911 call, with the help of FBI Agent Nick Turner. They hear the wrong address given, they hear Vera's attempt at uttering a name, and regarding the latter, they figured that Vera was about to mention the name of her killer, believed to be "Brian." That would change with another soundbyte that caught their ears: an additional female voice, which said the following--soft, but clear:
"Vee, let go."
Cammie came to the conclusion that it wasn't "Brian" that Vera was saying, it was "Bree." As in "Aunt Bree." As in Vera's own sister, Aubrey.

Meanwhile, Olivia was in her bedroom not feeling well, and she was approached by Aubrey, who spoke of Olivia's symptoms like she knew full what she was talking about. Aubrey turned heel afterwards, removing the "concerned aunt" mask and revealing herself as a demented and insane madwoman who laced her niece's meal with an entire bottle of Olivia's prescription Xanax. She later took out a razor and donned latex gloves as part of her plan to slit Olivia's wrist and portray her as being suicidal over Vera's death, which Aubrey caused, by the way. Aubrey ranted about Vera as she was attacking Olivia, claiming that she wanted a small loan, and killed Vera when she turned her down, with Aubrey accusing Vera of thinking she's better than her.
The villainess boasted that she would "find" her niece's body and have Vera's fortune to herself, but she didn't count on Jalen and Nashville PD arriving at the house. We see Aubrey wielding a gun while talking to Cammie and (later) Turner, demanding a hostage negotiator and later demanding a getaway plane. Oh brother. Police and Don Hart's fire department enter, with the latter tending to Olivia. Aubrey hears the noise from upstairs and heads to the room, shooting Jalen before she's disarmed by Don. Olivia's saved, Aubrey's arrested, Brian's cleared, and Cammie and Turner may become a thing.

"Love to Death," the 16th episode of 9-1-1: Nashville's first season (a second season is coming!), aired on ABC on April 2, 2026. The episode featured Kyle Richards as the evil Aubrey Hoffman, and my giddiness over seeing this maniacal villainess could fill up the entire state of Tennessee at least 50 times! I knew it was Aubrey from jump street, and there are many reasons why. One, Family Guy's right; in shows like this, the biggest named guest star--nine times out of ten--is the killer. Kyle Richards? Yeah, that's a pretty big name. Two, again, Kyle Richards. She has such a natural heel look; she screams "villainess." Hell, she screamed it in that killer leather outfit! And thirdly, Aubrey's insanity was off the charts! Here's a woman who brutally and violently killed her sister for money, and she was even willing to harm and kill her innocent niece for that same reason, all while seething over Vera.
Kyle Richards played the hell out of Aubrey Hoffman; her well-to-do demeanor, her heel persona, and her demented insanity. Perfect actress to play this amazing villainess! I'm hoping that we see more Real Housewives franchise cast members as villainesses; I do have a dream list regarding Lifetime movies, but that's another story. Richards did play a Lifetime villainess once; she played Tricia Staunton in 2011's Deadly Sibling Rivalry.
