In the early spring of 2021, a thirty-two-year-old travel photographer named Daniel Reeves decided to take a solo road trip through the remote mountain regions of the Pacific Northwest, a journey he had been planning for months as a way to escape the pressure of city life and focus on his passion for photographing landscapes that most people would never see. The guide described the road as a forgotten access trail that once led to a logging settlement decades ago before the community was abandoned and reclaimed by the surrounding wilderness.

Daniel sent a message to his sister in the afternoon saying that he had found the road and was planning to drive along it for a while to see if the old settlement still existed. His message included a photo of a narrow gravel path disappearing into a thick wall of trees while fog rolled slowly across the forest floor.

That was the last normal message anyone ever received from him.

Several hours later Daniel sent another text.

At first the picture looked like nothing more than darkness and motion.

But when investigators adjusted the brightness, a shape appeared in the background between the trees.

The figure looked tall and human.

Yet something about its posture seemed wrong.

Its arms appeared unusually long, hanging almost to its knees, and the shape of its body seemed slightly distorted in a way that made it difficult to determine exactly what it was.

More disturbing was the fact that Daniel had apparently been standing alone when the photo was taken.

No footprints belonging to another person were ever discovered in the area.

Search operations continued for weeks, yet the forest revealed nothing more about Daniel’s disappearance. No clothing, no backpack, and no additional signs of where he might have gone were ever found despite extensive efforts from volunteers and rescue teams.
