Dream's Odyssey

In the voyage of life

My mom is a teacher so my first dream was to be one

Who helps children sing ABC and start to count from one

I thought that it was really cool

I was then motivated to go to school

~

Mid-elementary years, being a nurse was popular

Wearing a white “dress”, and hair on a neat bun

The dream to be a teacher traveled far

Being a nurse seems more fun

~

Entering high school, having a dream became a competition

First, tick the boxes, before having any ambition

“For you to be a nurse, you need to have this certain grade”

It suddenly became conditional

A way of dreaming I never knew existed

I then tasted the bittersweet of naivety

~

Suddenly, the fun of dreaming was lost

The child in me started to shrink

And the rest is history

Dreaming didn’t become so easy as I grew up

~

Learning about life’s realities

It has put me in a complexity

Taking life’s responsibilities

Has made me focus on impossibilities

~

The little girl who loved dreaming

Started dreaming with a caution

With a lot of conditions

And with “if-situations”

~

Now, as I sit here with years of life’s experiences

Wiser from the lessons of my mistakes

And stronger from the grueling days

~

The setbacks I had to stand up to

The tortuous nights I had to sleep into

And the tedious days that I had to go through

I write my dreams

~

With loving kindness, I take and write them all

I may have failed, but it won’t cease me from dreaming

This time, a new kind of dream

Another perspective, another view

~

Not a title before my name, not even a thick wallet

I value their importance,

but they won’t be the reason for my existence.

~

Now, my ultimate dream is simple

To be content with what I have

To take life one day at a time

To take experiences one breath at a time

To be peaceful with where I am

And to be loved for who I am

~

It’s all I want now

I dream of being happy, satisfied, and at peace

With grace, I call for that child within me

To have fun in this life

To dream without condition

To live life fully, and freely

~

Because in dreaming, it’s where adventure flows

Adventure to success

Journey to healing

A trip to love

Back to yourself

~

Because, isn’t all that matters?

You have created very beautifully captures the evoloutine of dreams and the impact of life's experiences. The shift from childhood innocence to adult realizations is poignant and relatable.what a fantastic article.

Dreams become reality when love brings them to life—a very authentic poem that takes us to the heart’s center and to the land of memories. :)
