Layers of Rebuilding
Say It Plainly

So many layers to get through,
Each must be faced alone.
Flashbacks rush in, overwhelming.
Daily, my mind drowns in memories.
But just when it feels crushing,
They disappear into the dark.
And so, making way for the next phase.
After hours spent fighting through it all,
Anxiety and depression drench me together.
They fade away, and I go with them.
Yet before long, the cycle begins again,
Pulling me back into the process.
Trying to make up for past mistakes,
To build something really valuable together.
Here, something truly magical begins.
With planning, replanning, and planning once more,
This is the turning point; the chance to rebuild emerges.
After all the damage and destruction,
In the end, it’s all we can do.
To avoid the worst and save our energy,
So we keep going.
Now, separate the good from the bad,
As we prepare for what comes next.
To create something new,
New places for our future,
Where we can live life to the fullest.
We cried and laughed, letting our emotions out.
We survived and rebuilt, carrying pride onward.
Facing a flood of challenges all at once,
Before we broke down
Under their heavy weight.
We started reconstructing what remained,
Putting together the important parts,
Just to begin the actual work
That lies ahead on this path.
Keep on pushing, pushing, pushing.
No matter where our steps take us,
That’s how rebuilding guides us forward.
