you could be so much more

if you would just stand to be uncomfortable

for more than a second.

instead you clock in and out of a job that you hate

and rot on the couch with a blunt in hand

while doomscrolling on your phone until it's time for bed

just to wake up and do it all over again.

a vicious cycle and a waste of time -

if only you made an effort to see the sun when it shines,

and if only you took out a paper and pen

more than once in a fortnight to reconcile your sins.

you could be good,

you could be great,

if you just took the leap

but you're more than content

to fall off your feet.
