Sometimes it returns
like rain in the distance
Or waves on the verge
edging the sand that it fell once
*
Though our memories burn
Damp and cold, I sift through them
Each moment takes turn
to display its brilliance
*
Dissolving resistance
as we welcome it back
With slight hesitation
and so much to unpack
*
It takes ample consideration
to examine what we lack
A form of self preservation
that's been tenderly wrapped
*
And as it touches our skin
making us appear brand new
And the healing begins
revealing things we once knew
*
Welcoming or release
is now the struggle at hand
For not all that comes back to me
serves or fits into my plans
