Scared to Death

A grim realisation

By Matthew BathamPublished a day ago 1 min read

I think I’m getting older

My soul is turning cold

I’m even getting bitter

Aggressive, so I’m told

.

I’ve learned to turn a blind eye

To people on the street

I’m getting like the rest now

The ones I used to hate

.

I think that could be why

I’m scared to death

.

I don’t bother with my friends now

I wait for them to call

I mix with shallow people

I hardly know at all

.

Charity begins at home

And no-one lives with me

I only think about myself

I don’t get hurt that way

.

I think that could be why

I’m scared to death
