A rambling stream of consciousness

I need to scrape off some arrogance

From a character or two.

Lay it to dry in the sun.

Powder it.

Dress a glass table in its glory.

And inhale.

.

I need to believe that I control

Every train, every station,

Every soul on the commute.

Because if a man as mad as he

Lived to tell the tale

Then perhaps I'll die from

inactivity.

.

God, it feels good to crack the rules open.

Peer inside their thoughts.

It's all a lesson in bending the knee

But I'm too busy soaring

On borrowed arrogance

To bow to this world.

.

Not when it is decomposing,

Releasing such a foul stench

The critters at the poles have flipped

Belly up in protest.

Aren't you tired of it too?

The taste of rubber on your tongue,

I mean.

"Because if a man as mad as he Lived to tell the tale Then perhaps I'll die from inactivity." Those lines were my favourite. Loved your poem!

You have generated real tension herein between authorial hauteur and the recognition of the inexorable decay of a world impervious to its interventions.

Borrowed arrogance, there is certainly enough to go around. 👏👏✨ Nicely done.
