You Never Saw

Sometimes, some people never see that the hurt they suffer is the same as the hurt they inflicted on others.

You said you were drowning,

but you never saw

the waters above me head.

You said you were alone,

but you never saw

The four walls I live within.

You created the monster

that now consumes you.

But you never saw

that the beast you created

has eaten me whole.

Here I am,

frustrated.

Here I am

feeling the hate,

feeling the blame.

But you never saw

that it was your undoing

that did me in.

You only saw the blowback

and I was the one

you blamed it all.

You say you were drowning,

but you never saw

the line I threw.

You say you were did it alone,

but you never saw

the helping hands behind you.

You never saw

what I did

Of the job well done.

Of the job completed.

You never saw

the hand that held you.

Nor did you hear the words I spoke.

You never saw

many things

because you never wanted to see.
