The Box of Life.
I am alone. I am only 35 but I am alone. I have neighbors who live nearby but I don't talk to them, and I have no family as they are all dead. I visit no one, and I never get visitors. I have always kept myself to myself; dithering away in this old house, busying myself with cooking, cleaning, sewing, and television. I never get bored, and I never get into trouble. Time goes by fast, so I make the most of every single day, and I can't do that if I have visitors, can I?

A Mystery Gift From The Heart.
I don't know whether I should put my Christmas tree up tonight. It's Christmas Eve, though I see nothing special in Christmas anymore. I sigh a deep sigh of sadness as I watch the gentle snow falling outside my window, covering the empty branches of trees in a beautiful, white, quilt.

The Danger Signal
I was standing on my doorstep trying to find my keys in the torrenting rain that had been pouring for at least an hour and a half. I thought that I'd placed them in my pocket, but they weren't there. Out of desperation I kneel on the soaking-wet concrete of my doorstep, and search through my bag, swearing and cursing out of frustration. After ten minutes of searching and getting another drenching, I finally find them.

The Mysterious Gift
I apply the final touch to the small Christmas tree, then switch on the lights. The tree is only small, but as a newly single mother, it is all I can afford. I observe the two small bags of wrapped presents under the tree there aren't many, but I know that Charlotte and Rose will be grateful for them. There are only three presents each in the bags, that is the price families pay nowadays for being on a low income.

Saying No When You Have To Prioritize Your Own Needs.
My work and studies have become busier today as I try to reach my career goals, and so has my home life. Life at home can be an endless chore of washing, cleaning, and meeting other people's needs, leaving very little time for my own work.

Creativity
Lilly sat on the beach watching the waves on the sea. Her mummy had bought her a bucket and spade, though she was only five years old, and she wasn't sure how to use them. Lilly's bright blue eyes sparkled and her beautifully soft, long, light brown hair blew gently to the rhythm of the sea breeze. She was thoughtful for a while, carefully observing the other children building sand castles on the beach. She watched them carefully lift the sand with their spades, emptying the sand into their buckets, then patting the sand down and tipping up the bucket, then patting the bottom of the bucket; finally, she saw them carefully lift the bucket away from the sand castle, revealing a beautiful masterpiece.
