Danny Platt and Daniella Powell of New Orleans, LA, separated soon after the birth of their son, Ja'Shaun, in 2007. Danny had visitation rights and could see Ja'Shaun whenever he wanted. He had never taken advantage of his right to be a father.

Joshua Spriestersbach lived with schizophrenia, yet was a quiet, caring man who never hurt anyone. He spent time in jail on petty, non-violent charges, and on a few occasions, spent time at the Hawaii State Hospital, HSH. He often spoke about microwaves controlling him and told anyone who’d listen how the CIA was after him because of his computer hacking skills.

When men murder their families, the motivating factor oftentimes is money or a mistress. For reasons unknown to me, they feel killing their family is a better alternative than divorce. The Chris Watts family murders case, for example, happened after he began an affair with another woman.

Women Executed in the U.S.
Since 1976 -the year the U.S. reinstated the death penalty- only 1.15%, or 18, of the 1,500+ executed inmates have been women. Even then, another eight years passed before any state took a woman to the death chamber for execution. The death penalty sparks plenty of controversy, although in the U.S. still is a punishment handed down to criminals convicted of the worst crimes imaginable. Now and again, those heinous people happen to be women.
