End of the School Year
Teachers lives turned upside down the day that Covid-19 lockdown hit the country. One day we are in school with our classes and the next day (with a blink of an eye) we are at home trying to figure out Virtual Learning. At the onset, we figured we would be out a week, maybe two. Little did we know that we would be saying goodbye to our students online three months later in June. For some teachers retiring this year it is an even harder task.

Why I chose to become an online tutor and why you should too
During my A-levels, I had a AS Maths module that I was greatly struggling with. After a dispassionate attempt in my mock set a month before my real exam, I achieved a whopping 3/72 (That's a U grade, Unmarkable, if you're wondering) which I completely deserved since I had understood virtually nothing all year. I've always been excellent at Maths, but the teacher I had just didn't click with me and I consider myself a hard-working individual but for the first time, I was stumped. Something had to change, and fast.

Why I Quit My Dream Job
I can remember standing in my parent's basement smothered in wood panelling and orange shag carpet with a dry erase board and my second grade math homework. I can remember lining all of my stuffed bears and hippos and whatever else into a strategic seating chart so they could all see the board and I could walk around "the classroom" to ensure each student was on task. I assigned homework and stayed after school to plan for the next day or at least until dinner was ready. Teaching has been my dream since I was cognizant of the fact that a career was possible for me.

Virtual Teaching
In the middle of March, teachers went home as if it were a regular day of work and never returned. They were informed that schools were closed due to Covid-19 and were asked to teach from home. Many of them did not have their curriculums with them and did not have their lesson plan book. Of course, they remembered what they did that last day of teaching but how do we move forward.

Nurses and doctors are having a hard time now with Covid-19. They are the heroes that many people know about. Now, is the time to turn to our other everyday heroes and those are what we call "teachers". Teachers are the educators of today and tomorrow. Teachers are taking time to shape the brain of your child, so they can grow up to be successful. Every teacher has a goal to set your child up for success. They mold the minds of tomorrow, they are in the process of creating the next prime minister, the next nurse, the next inventor, the next doctor, the next Nobel prize winner. Those successes happen because of a teacher a child cannot do that on their own. Of course your child is motivated to be great but the teacher is the person that keeps your child motivated to finish at the top. They are the unsung every day heroes that we forget to thank. I think that parents are finally realizing how hard it is to be a teacher. They often drop off their child at school and head off for work and do not see them until the end of the day. During the school day the teacher checks your child's science homework, checks their English essay, and helps them out with whatever math problem they have, teachers are the people who are willing to skip their lunch to help out a child who needs assistance in a subject. Teachers are the ones that children go to to get help with their calculus homework in the early morning. The teacher most likely does not like getting up early to get to school, but they do it anyways in case a student walks in hoping to get help with a problem they cannot solve.
