The non-Earth members of the solar system were distant, largely unattainable ideas, aromas hidden under atmospheric irregularity and the thick black shield of space helmets. Then the Sun’s magnetism reversed, and the bodies in the solar system collided to make Solar Pangaea, the thing that never should have been made.

Dirt
A thick smell of sulfur hovers over the ice cold ground. My eyes are still adjusting to the small rays of light streaking through the dark, heavy clouds. I feel disoriented and confused about what has happened in the hours that have passed. I stay low to the ground as my mind processes its surroundings. A scene as revealing as it is haunting. It’s as though this area has been leveled out to just dirt and rock. Anything once living here is no longer, so why am I?

My New World
My world ended the day aliens invaded earth to rule over humans because they were looking for a new home and saw us as the weaker species. When we got the announcement from the president we left everything but the clothes on our backs and ran for the forest, where we would be safe along with other families. Me being the fastest got to the tree line before the rest of my family could. After they were gone there was no one else left except me and the heart shaped locket my mother gifted to me. Inside the locket was a portrait of my parents taken before I was born.
