What Does "Blood Is Thicker Than Water" Really Mean?
You remember that one time when you really wanted to spend Friday night with your friends, staying up late, watching terrible movies and just blowing off steam from the stress of the week, but you were told in no uncertain terms that you were going to your sister's recital. No matter what logical arguments you could come up with as to why you should be excused from this family outing (you being there won't make the music any better, you've already heard the performance dozens of times thanks to her incessant practicing, your sister actually swore a vow to kill you the next time she saw you), the elders probably intoned some version of the phrase, "blood is thicker than water," to still any further protestations on your part.

Chapter 6 Shadows: Hard Changes: Part 3 of Becoming a House Parent When we arrived back at the house, it was dimly lit, deathly quiet…... no one home. Before climbing the stairs to the front room, I opened the door to the Dorm…. It was empty, where were my boys? I thought for a second…. Wondering…. I really didn’t know what to think. I was still dumbfounded by the accident, and meeting Tommy’s Grandmother. this had never happened to me before in the 27, what REALLY seemed like now, ‘very short years ‘of my life.

The Pain That Comes With the Ability
Many people don’t really know me. I know that is something you might hear all the time, but I mean it. I’m not even really seen at work, and by this I mean I work at a processing office, all day long I work at a computer. Most of my employees don’t even know that I am even there. I am constantly ignored. I guess it makes it easier to keep my secret. I’m not like most people or even anyone. I have never met someone who can do what I do or even heard of it. I prefer to keep to myself and stay back and watch the people around me go through life. The drama, mystery, journeys, and stories. Each one of them different.

Shadows In The Hall
Chapter Four Shadows of loving the unlovable: Becoming a house parent My three children were still youngsters when I made the decision to deviate from Nursing for a while. I wanted to spend more time with them while they were still small. I was the one who worked, my first husband, Dale, their father, stayed home with them. He didn’t have a trade and had difficulty finding a job, so we traded places. Plus, I was paid better.

Shadows In The Hall
Chapter three Shadow of Concern; My first Convalescent Hospital. In those early years, Convalescent Hospitals, now called Extended Care Facilities, were run differently than they are today. In those years, the Ombudsman program was very new or unknown. There weren’t any signs posted with the phone number for help in the facilities like they are today. No one ever discussed this service with me at that time. The C.N.A.’s had much heavier assignments than they do today. The Residents seemed to decline quicker. If the Resident refused to eat, they were to be forced-fed with a large (60 cc or 2 ounce) syringe, for example.

What is Seduction?
What is Seduction? In a nutshell, it is the art of persuasion. The ability to persuade, to influence or to guide someone in a pointed direction. Every woman, though many may deny it, has at some point or another, seduced, persuaded, or influenced someone in their life for personal benefit. Be it a husband, lover, friend, family member, co-worker, etc.

The Girl Who Stole the Moon
Ashlee Marie wasn't looking for love. Nor was she planning on falling in love. By the time she was twenty-one she had decided that love was not in the cards for her. She may have been four years older now but if love hadn’t found her yet, it most certainly wouldn’t any time soon. Love was not high on her priorities list. In fact she had practically benched love. “Ashlee Marie!” Her mother would say with her highly upper English accent, “Darling you're only twenty-five! You have a lifetime ahead of you to find love.” To which Ashlee would cry out in frustration, “Mother if love hasn't found me yet it most certainly will not change its mind on me now!”
