The Optical Labyrinth: Analyzing the Visual Mechanics of Black-and-White Geometric Illusions
Introduction The image in question represents a high-contrast, black-and-white optical illusion that utilizes concentric circular patterns, wave-like geometries, and alternating checkerboard motifs to create a strikingly immersive visual experience. These designs—commonly associated with the Op Art movement of the mid-20th century—manipulate spatial perception through mathematically structured distortions. The result is a synthetic yet disorienting field of visual data that appears dynamic, despite its static nature. This article explores the principles underpinning such visual phenomena, including the psychological, neurological, and artistic implications embedded within these complex visual systems.

Photography is my life
I have been doing Photography for a little bit over twenty years now. It all started when I was ten years old, when a friend's mother gave me a disposable camera. When I had developed the photos at CVS, I brought them back to my friend's mother. That's when she boosted my ego by stating that I had an eye for photography. Then it was game over for my parents. Every year for my birthday or Christmas, I would ask for a camera. My dad bought a camera at some point for himself to take fishing; however, he never ended up taking it, just totally forgetting it. So... I may have stolen it. It was a Nikon CoolPix L27, I believe. I was probably eleven or twelve when I started taking selfies and pictures of others. Everyone loved the way that they had looked in the photographs. However, the camera met its timely end when I took it out in a snowstorm. Something happened internally, and lines started to appear in photographs. I was devastated.

And I had the honor of capturing it all through my lens as FlicksByFiyah, a Samoan-American photographer based in Seattle.
